My most recent inspiration has some from my discovery of this painting by John Charles Dollman entitled A Very Gallant Gentleman. It depicts the final moments of Captain Lawrence Oates who was part of Terra Nova Expedition to Antarctica in 1912, along with Robert Falcon Scott.
A canvas copy of this painting hangs very proudly in my home office. I have a bit of an obsession with gallantry and chivalry, and I think this sits right near the top of that list.
