Showing off isn't showing off if it's true
It's ok to be proud of your wins
When you’ve done something you’re proud of, it really is ok to shout about it.
However, for lots of reasons many people don’t:
Lack of confidence
Fear of no one caring.
Fear it’s not actually any good.
Imposter syndrome.
Worried you’re showing off.
This was summed up in this post that I recently spotted on LinkedIn:
I don’t know Clare – but we are connected – so when I saw the post, I wanted to show my support. Not because my support matters more than anyone else’s, but because she’s taken the time to do something outside of her comfort zone – so any positive comment is well-deserved.
More importantly, she’s sharing concrete, factual numbers that are indisputable. Her work, her thinking and her execution have made those numbers happen.
No one else.
So in reality, she’s not showing off. She’s sharing her pride in what she’s accomplished.
And, in posting about it, she’s also put herself out of her comfort zone. Double the wins!
Time for yours?
