John Lewis has once again taken hold of the social media conversation with the release of its 2015 Christmas advert. Featuring a cover of Oasis’ Half The World Away by Norwegian singer Aurora, the response has generally been positive, although not without criticism or satire.
Aldi goes from strength to strength and has really leaned into its tone of voice on social.
That last point is a funny one really. The John Lewis ad is still a staple of the pre-Christmas rush, but it had refined its message in recent years. The 2022 advert saw it promoting a fostering message, and supporting relevant charities too.
